Born in 1955 in rural Nantou County, Taiwan, Lin Jintian worked his way up step by step as a public servant and eventually became ROC’s Deputy Minister of Culture. In 2003, he resolutely retired from public office at the peak of his career and fully devoted himself to the world of arts, and has been attending cross-strait and international art exhibition and events since.
During his 34 years of public service, Lin researched at Duke University, University of Sydney, and Tunghai University on the subject of public policy, and he taught numerous students at National Academy of Civil Service, Tunghai University, Nan Kai University of Technology, and TransWorld University.
Having published many books, his newest book- Make Your Own Life, Build Your Own Dream is about how Lin Jintian faced his struggles and fought hard during his financially deprived youth, his experiences and mentality in the public sector, and his encouragement to young people to chase their dream, one step at a time. This book is his attempt to reconstruct the broken value of Taiwanese endeavor.
