  • 2017 Taichung Smart City Summit/Journalist James Yang

    On December 1st, The Taichung City Government collaborated with Microsoft Taiwan to host the “2017 Taichung Smart City Summit” at Lin Hotel, with more than 150 guests attending from various industries. Taichung Mayor Lin Chia-Lung in his address indicated that Taichung has been reviewed by CNN as the “Most Livable City in Taiwan”, and it has grown to the second largest city on the Island.
    Mayor Lin further pointed out that Taichung is currently promoting the technical applications relating Smart City, namely AI, Blockchain, Big data, and Cloud. Lin also led a delegation this August to visit iconic companies in the Silicon Valley, including Acer, Nvidia, SAP, and Rockwell, to exchange experiences developing Smart Cities. Among the visited companies, Rockwell will build a laboratory in the Taichung Precision Machinery Technology Innovation Park, and establish a branch in Taichung within two years.
     Microsoft Taiwan GM Ken Sun also congratulated Taichung on the CNN award; he indicated Microsoft has thorough AI/ Big Data/ IoT training programs which can help the government train local talents, and it has experiences helping governments and corporations in a digital transition.
